4g ipod touch in the classroom
We have rolled our 25 4G iPod touches into the classrooms at BFIS. The vision for these tools is to engage learners in doing new things in new ways. We will develop uses for these devices as tools to enable the learners in our classrooms to create in ways they may not have with more traditional classroom tools.
I will facilitate professional learning opportunities, beginning October 31, for teachers at BFIS to transparently integrate these tools into their daily routines. We will dialogue about how engaging learners with a device which they are familiar with, will push their thinking in new directions when using it in new ways. Curating the web, showing understanding through creating presentations or video projects, blogging, and formative assessments are a few ways we will use the iPods. Using formative assessment apps such as Nearpod, Socrative, or Poll Everywhere, we can use authentic and timely information from the learners which will help drive our instruction and enable us to differentiate instruction accordingly. This happens both in practice, through a class poll or a few short answer questions which go directly to the teachers device, or a compilation of a series of open ended questions which is compiled into a spreadsheet and sent directly to the teacher's email to view later when planning for tomorrows classroom experience.
Below are a list of apps that we are beginning with.
